Google Mecury Magnetics or check ebay.Get the JMI or Vintage AC30 Transformers.Cheap buy. This will make your amp react just like the originals. And you might as well replace the power tubes as well with JJ's.ģ. The Power tubes are alright, they're sovtek's which get the job done. But the preamp tubes, forget it.They're some sort of un named Chineese crap they just threw in there.Replace them with JJ's. Get Blues. If you can't afford blues, no worriesĢ. Ok here's the first thing to start off with to give you a better sound.ġ.

There are some MUST mods to make these amps worth their wild. Not the best at soldiering? The CC is by far the best reissue Vox has made yet.And of course I'm saying that because I modded mine. I panned one right and one left and none of us could hear any major differences once they were mixed down. I ran both through the same cab and used them both in the same song. On a side note, I had the pleasure of having both my Vox and an Orange AD30 in the studio at the same time.

There were many disappointed guitarists when I sold my Vox(which was totally for money reasons). Fact is, if you can't get a good sound out of a CC Vox then you're either not much of a guitar player or you're not much of an engineer. So, while I respects peoples opinions I think some are either being unfair because of where they're built or they just haven't heard the amps in person. Vox's sound different from year to year and even vintage ones were known for being mechanical nightmares at times.

I get pretty sick of people saying "It won't sound like.". It went out on several gigs and was used on countless sessions without ever giving me a single problem(and it was often pushed very very hard). I won't say that it sounded like older/vintage AC30's but I absolutely loved what it did. I had a AC30CC for just about a year and I regret selling it to this day. The Wharfdales are OK, but you should really save up for the Alnico's - that's the real Vox tone (I don't know if it's economical to buy the Alnico's later, unless you get them used or from some kind of blow-out sale). I owned an AC30 from 2005, so mine had those issues that you mention - I am not certain, but I believe the newer AC30's (from 2006 on? Not sure about the date) added a jack for the speaker wire - but you're still going to want to replace the crappy screws. Vintage Amps Bulletin Board :: View Forum - Vox

The Plexi Palace Vintage Amps forum is your best spot for Vox info, both new and old. I know these amps have gotten some very poor reviews on here and other places, but hopefully current production runs have fixed some or all of these problems. If anyone has any advice or knowledge they'd like to offer, before I unleash the credit card, please do.

I can get a good deal on a CC2 with Wharfedales and I'm very tempted to drop the cash- and upgrade to the blues a couple months from now. I've been wanting a Vox for God knows how long, and it's income tax return season. Have the production issues that have been complained about been fixed yet- strange ghost note harmonics, cheap screws that strip after one time of unscrewing them, etc? Are they still soldering the speaker wires directly to the speakers?! Hopefully, they've listened and put blade connectors, finally!

I know there's been a few threads about the new series of Vox AC30 amps, and a lot of the complaints/issues have shook my desire to purchase one over the past few months.
